Wisdom teeth are the molars (back teeth) that come through last, usually in your late teens or early 20s. Normally there are four wisdom teeth – two in the upper jaw and two in the lower jaw – but some people have more, fewer, or even none at all.
Every patient is unique, but wisdom teeth may need to be removed when there is evidence of pain, infection, damage to neighboring teeth, tooth decay and more.
Your orthodontist may also recommend removal of wisdom teeth as part of treatment for braces or other dental care.
Before making any decisions, our team will examine your mouth and take an x-ray. Together, we can discuss the best course of treatment.
