Medicare cover eligible children up to $1,026 over 2 calendar years for basic dental services. If your child is eligible for Medicare's Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS), you should receive a letter from Medicare. Alternatively, go on to MyGov or Medicare app to check their eligibility.
Your child can get CDBS if they satisfy ALL of the following:
they're between 0 and 17 years old for at least one day that calendar year;
you or they get an eligible payment at least once that calendar year; and
they are eligible for Medicare.
Currently, Medicare does not cover adult dental treatment at private dental clinics.
If you would like to utilise your child's Medicare cover, our friendly Hobart team is here to help.
